Standardised supporting constructions
Standardised supporting constructions are described in each test standard : the standard constructions described in EN 1366-2 can be used as a supporting construction for the installation of fire dampers during a fire test. Standard EN 1366-2:2015 refers to standard EN 1363-1:2012 to define the walls that can be used in a fire test for a fire damper.
- rigid vertical wall with high density: concrete blocks, brick- built or poured concrete constructions with an overall density ≥ 850 kg/m³ and a thickness depending on the desired fire resistance.
- rigid vertical wall with low density: cellular concrete with a total density of (650 & ± 200) kg/m³ and a thickness depending on the desired fire resistance.
- rigid slab: high (2200 ± 200 kg/m³) or low (650 ± 200 kg/m³) and with a thickness according to the targeted fire resistance.
- Light partition wall: drywall consisting of a metallic framework (C-shaped metal studs) covered with gypsum board type F according to EN 520 (fire-resistant), with rock wool insulation (40 mm, 40 kg/m³). The wall thickness and the number of layers of gypsum plasterboard determine the fire resistance.
